Almond Power Trail Mix
A great organic trail mix balances healthy fats, protein, fiber, and a little natural sweetness. This version is excellent for hiking, cycling, office snacks, or keeping in the car.
Ingredients
Essentials
- 300g whole almonds
- 150g walnuts
- 100g pecans
- 100g pumpkin seeds
- 50g sunflower seeds
- 150g raisins
- 100g dried apricots
- 50g dried cranberries
Optional Extras
- 50g coconut flakes
- 50g dark chocolate chips (70%+ cocoa)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Method
Buy the ingredients in bulk and mix them yourself. Homemade organic trail mix is often 30–50% cheaper than premium packaged mixes and lets you avoid added oils, preservatives, and excess sugar.
- Preheat oven to 160°C.
- Spread almonds, walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds on a baking tray.
- Roast for 8–10 minutes until fragrant.
- Allow to cool completely.
- Chop the apricots into raisin-sized pieces.
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Store in an airtight container.
